The green transition is accelerating the demand for specialized skills. According to the multinational company Agap2, the most in-demand professionals include energy engineers, environmental permitting experts, smart grid and energy storage specialists, and project managers.
The renewable energy market in Italy is undergoing a profound transformation. With increasingly stringent environmental targets set by the European Union, the growing need for technological innovation, and heightened attention to the adoption of renewable energy sources, companies are seeking more professionals capable of guiding them through this green journey.
According to the latest data compiled by Agap2, an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and IT, job opportunities in the clean energy sector have risen by 15% over the past 12 months.
“Today,” explains Alessandro Rosati, CEO of Agap2, “the true success factor for companies operating in the complex renewables market is access to highly qualified and, whenever possible, immediately operational professionals. The demand for experts with technical, regulatory, and digital competencies has grown significantly in the past year. This increase naturally reflects in the demand for specialized technical staff and pushes both public and private companies to seek professionals capable of leading the transition in an increasingly competitive and fast-evolving market. At the moment, there are excellent opportunities for energy engineers, environmental permitting experts, smart grid and energy storage specialists, and project managers.”
Energy Engineers: These professionals are experts in energy systems and energy sources. They play a key role in the production, transmission, transformation, and efficient use of energy in both civil and industrial contexts. Energy engineers design innovative energy solutions, analyze complex production and distribution systems, and develop technologies to reduce environmental impact.
Environmental Permitting Experts: They manage the process of obtaining the necessary authorizations for project implementation and ensure full compliance with environmental regulations. They assist companies and public institutions in navigating the complex permitting landscape, carefully assessing the environmental impact of each activity while coordinating and managing relationships with all stakeholders.
Smart Grid and Energy Storage Specialists: These professionals work on intelligent electrical networks and energy storage technologies. They design, implement, and manage systems that optimize energy production, distribution, and consumption. Their work also involves integrating renewable energy sources to enhance energy efficiency and ensure grid reliability.
Project Managers: They analyze and assess the environmental impact of individual projects, develop sustainable policies and procedures, and, when necessary, train team members. They are responsible for integrating environmental sustainability principles into project management and ensuring that not only are goals achieved, but that they are met with full respect for environmental standards.
