Professional opportunities are on the rise, particularly within the world of engineering in the aerospace and defense sectors. A significant boost is expected from the Eurofighter project, but the search for engineers is also increasing in other fields involving technology, sustainability, and innovation.

Alessandro Rosati
, CEO of agap2—a multinational specialized in engineering and information technology consulting—explains: "In a period of rapid change and global challenges, engineers are more than ever central figures in developing solutions that meet the needs of a constantly evolving world. Their ability to design, optimize, and implement innovative technologies is fundamental in every industrial sector, both in Italy and abroad. The quality and preparation of our professionals are undisputed; in fact, Italian engineering graduates are in high demand even overseas. In recent months, we have recorded a 15% to 20% growth in requests from companies in our country, especially in specific sectors such as Aerospace, Electronics, IT, and Energy, where we expect to reach 25% growth in the coming years."

Complex Projects

Where are the greatest job opportunities concentrated?

‍

According to agap2’s findings, there is a high demand for aerospace and defense engineers for complex projects related to the design, construction, and maintenance of aircraft, satellites, and defense systems. Skills in aerodynamics, propulsion, and avionics are essential, but expertise in Artificial Intelligence and advanced control systems is increasingly required.

Electronics and computer engineers
will focus on circuits, devices, and electronic systems, while software, applications, AI, and cybersecurity systems will be the domain of IT specialists. Finally, the search for energy and renewable energy engineers continues: the rising demand for sustainable energy solutions has created a strong need for specialists in solar, wind, and bioenergy. These professionals work on optimizing energy production and distribution processes with the goal of reducing environmental impact and improving energy efficiency.

"The general context is certainly complex and has also affected the engineering sector," Rosati explains. "However, there are certain categories that have significant employment prospects, partly because the number of engineers graduating from our universities is considerably lower than the market's needs. I am thinking, for example, of IT specialists, aerospace engineers, mechatronics experts, and all those with highly specific know-how. For them, opportunities will continue to be plentiful well into the future."
