Brescia. Employment opportunities are on the rise in Brescia and its surrounding province. The local labor market showed highly positive signals throughout 2024: according to data from the Confindustria Brescia Research Center, the number of employed individuals reached 555,000, with the unemployment rate dropping to a historic low of 2.8%.

Local companies are primarily scouting for Mechanical Design Engineers, Automation and Mechatronics Engineers, and Management Engineers. These findings come from agap2, an international engineering and IT consultancy firm that recently inaugurated its fourth Italian branch in Brescia, joining its existing offices in Milan, Rome, and Parma.

"The Brescia region is proving to be exceptionally dynamic," says Alessandro Rosati, CEO of agap2. "Our observatory’s data presents a very encouraging outlook for both the present and the future: we have recorded a 10% increase in demand for highly specialized profiles, particularly in the mechanical, mechatronic, and automation sectors. It is clear that the local job market has remained resilient despite the economic challenges affecting other regions. This resilience is precisely why we chose to open our fourth Italian branch here—to be closer to candidates seeking career growth and to companies looking for top-tier talent."

High-Demand Roles in the Brescia Region

  • Mechanical Design Engineer: Responsible for 3D modeling (CAD), structural analysis, and the development of mechanical components and systems. Given that the mechanical sector is the powerhouse of Brescia’s economy, these professionals are in high demand within the metalworking and manufacturing industries.
    • Key Skills: SolidWorks/Inventor, material science, technical standards, and problem-solving.
  • Automation/Mechatronics Engineer: Designs and implements automated systems for production lines, integrating electronics, IT, and mechanics. As Industry 4.0 drives digital transformation, these hybrid profiles are essential.
    • Key Skills: PLC (Siemens, Omron), SCADA systems, industrial robotics, and sensors.
  • Management Engineer (Production & Logistics focus): Manages production processes, optimizes resources, and analyzes logistics flows and corporate performance. Local firms are seeking experts capable of streamlining the supply chain through Lean Manufacturing to boost competitiveness.
    • Key Skills: Lean Manufacturing, ERP systems (SAP/Oracle), data analysis, and project management.

"Over the last two years," adds Alessandro Rosati, "we have observed a progressive increase not only in job openings but also in average salaries. This demonstrates that the local economy is holding steady despite inflation and rising energy costs. Opening a branch here was a natural strategic step in our mission to invest in high-growth, dynamic environments."
